Hardwood flooring is another addition to the class of green flooring materials unique in its own approach and style. This type of floorings comes along in different styles. The main factor behind the differentiation of style in hardwood flooring is the grain and texture of each type. This grain first of all depends upon the source or rather the tree from which the wood is taken. There are many types of trees which provide hardwood flooring – maple, oak both in red and white, cherry, hickory, pine, white ash, pecan etc. All these trees provide different grain and texture pattern like other flooring materials as cork flooring.

However, along with this the process of cutting the wood also determines its graining pattern. While sliced cut process proffers a rather uniform mold, the rotary cut create a heftier mold. There are also saw blade cutting which will give you the solid hardwood flooring and knife blade cutting, which will give you the engineered hardwood flooring.

Along with this comes the finishing method which will determine the style of the flooring just like the laminate flooring. There are two types of finishing – pre-finished and unfinished floorings. In case of unfinished style the sanding, staining and other finishing is customized unlike the pre-finished ones.

Also according to the width there are two styles – strips and planks and according to the edge there are three styles – beveled, square and eased. So when you are going to shop for your hardwood flooring, keep these in mind to select the best suitable style you want.
